Insurance Collections Specialist

Position: Revenue Cycle Specialist

Very busy revenue cycle management team is in search of a new team member.

• At least two years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle is required
• Understanding of the entire revenue cycle process
• Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD-10
• Understanding of medical and insurance terminology, Compliance, Law & Ethics (HIPAA)
• Verify customer eligibility with insurance carriers and if necessary, acquires authorization
• Accurately posting payments and entering adjustments on patient accounts per insurance remittance advice
• Following up on insurance rejections and denials by filing corrected claims, fulfilling insurance requests and filing appeals with the insurance as necessary
• Effective communication with other medical staff members and health insurance providers
• Processes credit card payments
• Timely billing of charges, reviewing patient records and using medical coding procedures to insure claim submission accuracy
• Communicate with customers regarding their billing and assists in collections
• Resolve claim issues
• Updating any internal databases, which electronically store and organize patient records, billing details, and registration forms
• Enter notes in the patients' accounts regarding denials that need supervisory review
• Collect co-pays, non-covered services and outstanding balances from patients in and out of network
• Update and reviews aged receivables for unpaid balances
• Exhibit professional demeanor with a positive enthusiastic attitude at all times when representing the practice
• Provide input on how to improve customer service, decrease costs and increase revenues for the practice
• Assume other duties as assigned

• Active Certificate from an accredited Medical Billing Program
• Minimum of two-year experience as a Medical Biller
• Supports the practice core values and mission statement to develop, enhance and promote quality customer service through team effort
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Work independently and effectively in a busy environment
• Familiar with medical billing software systems (preferably eCW)
• Proficient in Office Word, Excel and Outlook
• Navigating Windows and the Internet
